Five tips for planning your wedding with ease.

Are Your Wedding Bells Ringing?

Getting engaged is such an exciting time for you and your partner and the adventure is truly just beginning! Your wedding day will mark the beginning of your life together, help you share a special celebration with your friends and family and if the DJ plays enough cheesy bangers, it should be a party to remember.

However, when it comes to weddings, we understand that there is SO much to do, and often, it’s difficult to know where to start. Booking venues, dress hunting, table planning- it can all be a bit overwhelming!

Here at Night Owl Studio, we thought we’d lend a helping hand, and give you five tips for planning your wedding. (And yes, this is JUST the tip of the iceberg, but every small bit of advice will make the whole process much smoother.) Let’s dive right in.

1. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions.

They say the early bird catches the worm and when it comes to wedding planning, that much is certainly true. It’s never too soon to start scoping out venues, deciding on a date, thinking about colour schemes and making the big decisions. The more decisions you can make at the early stage of planning, the easier it will be later on. Try starting out by asking yourself these questions: What is my budget? How big would I like my wedding to be? What time of the year would I like? You’ll find that once you answer these burning questions, a lot of the other planning falls in to place!

2. Organisation is key!

Take yourself back to your school days and reach for your highlighters, ring binder files and as many post-it notes as you can get your hands on. The more organised you are the better! Lists, spreadsheets and colour-coded files will become your best friend during the wedding planning process. Your future self will thank you!

3. Many hands make light work.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help! During the wedding planning process, it can be easy for a couple to take on every single task and become extremely overwhelmed. In our experience, friends and family members are more than willing to help out when they’re needed. In fact, most of the time they’ll really enjoy it! This can also be a great way to save some money in your budget. Got a relative that’s really great at baking cakes? Amazing! Does one of your cousins arrange flowers as a hobby? Perfect! Sometimes all it takes is to ask, and you’ll save yourself some time and stress.

4. Do it your way!

It’s so important that your wedding reflects you! Don’t feel pressured by what everyone else is doing or has done in the past. This is your day to celebrate, begin your life together and have the most fun possible while doing it. If you want to wear a multicoloured dress? Do it! If you want to hire a bouncy castle for the after party? Do it! This is your day, and it’s imperative that it makes you happy.

5. Make your memories last.

The wedding planning process may seem long at the beginning, but as soon as your big day arrives, you’ll realise just how quick it flies by! Our biggest advice to you would be, make your memories last. Photograph all the exciting moments, savour every single second of the whole process and of course, make sure you have a great photographer and videographer to capture the most treasured day of your life. Once the celebrations have ended, you’ll have a beautiful memoir to look back on, that will always remind you of this special time.

So there you have it. Five small pieces of advice that will help you on this journey. Planning your wedding should be fun, stress free and exactly how you want it to be. Always remember that!
